A documentarian with an eye for bold filmmaking and the skills for deep subject-matter research, Aaron Cargile has years of professional experience in both corporate videography and local art community.
As a videographer, Cargile has directed and edited many promotional videos for the e-commerce business Fangamer, and has produced educational YouTube videos for Active Galactic, a channel based out of Steward Observatory.
Aaron’s first feature film, EarthBound, USA, for which he served as producer and archival producer, is nominated for a 2024 Regional Emmy® Award for Cultural/Topical/Historical Documentary. The film was an official selection for several film festivals in the United States and United Kingdom, and has played at major video game conventions across the country.
Telling the epic journey of an obscure Japanese video game’s rise from a flop to cult classic over twenty years, EarthBound, USA, used hundreds of archival materials and pieces of web content Cargile researched, organized, and legally cleared for production.
Always on the lookout for dynamic and novel forms of media to push both aesthetic and political boundaries, Cargile wrote and produced Cyberf#@ck Live. An official selection of the 2024 Arizona Underground Film Festival, the event fused documentary film, creative editing with so-called ‘artificial’ intelligence, and live performance. Produced in collaboration with several of Tucson’s emerging LGBTQ+ creatives, the event returned twice this summer from popular demand.
